Game Rules
-
A game comprises 8 throws, and a match consists of 3 games (a total of 24 throws).
-
Players must throw a single rotation from behind the foul line. Both feet must touch the ground behind the foul line after the throw. Failing to do so or crossing the line before both players have thrown results in a forfeited throw.
-
Points are scored when the axe blade sticks into the target, with the score corresponding to the highest-value zone touched by the axe head.
-
The first throw must aim at the main target.
-
Players must declare if they are targeting one of the corner targets. If not declared, only the main target is in play. Once a corner target is hit, it is “closed out” for the remainder of the game.
-
The leading player must declare their intent first. In case of a tie, either player can declare their intent or try to reach a consensus. If no consensus is reached and no intent is declared, both players must aim for the main target.
-
On the final throw of each game, the trailing player must declare their intent before the leading player.
-
The match victory is awarded to the player who wins the majority of games. Ties are counted as half a win.

League Playoffs
-
The final week of the league features a double-elimination tournament where all players vie for the championship.
-
Standings are based on player averages. Ties in standings are resolved by total points scored, then by wins, and finally by a coin toss.
-
In case of a tie game in the tournament, players continue throwing together until the tie is broken. Overtime starts with aiming at the main target only. If both players hit a bullseye, it is closed out and the corners become the only targets in play. Once a corner target is hit, it is closed out until all 4 corners have been hit. If the tie persists after hitting all 4 corners, the pattern repeats, starting with the main target.
-
Matches are played until one player wins 3 games (best of 5). When only four players remain, matches are played until one player wins 4 games (best of 7
